People have different levels of motivation as a result of inspiration. My question to you is, “What inspires you?” In other words, until you can find the spark to ignite your genius and excellence, you might not become motivated to reach for the moon and if you miss you will still be a star. What gets you fired up to achieve excellence?
Answer the aforementioned question and likelihood is, it represents your passion. Its always good to know what motivates you, perhaps it could be the fact you grew up in poverty and you want to break the cycle of poverty in your family.
Perhaps you are the first person in your family to graduate from high school and or college and you want to ensure other members of your family succeed academically. What I have just written about is inspiration, without it chances are you will not be motivated enough to take the action.
The action step is and of itself the courage to do something you have never done before. Case in point, my parents and or grandparents before them graduated from high school. The end result was, I became the first person in my family to earn a high school degree and all of a sudden, my eight siblings did the same.
That is not all, I was also the first child of nine to attend and graduate from college, my three brothers followed in my foot steps. You see I was inspired by the fact I knew my parents were capable of earning a high school diploma, however they lost a parent at very young ages and stopped attending school to help their remaining parent raise their siblings.
I observe the military personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and many of them is wounded. The soldier is injured but not the spirit, what is on the inside of the soldier is inspired and motivated to walk again, run again and communicate the need to help his or her brethren to recovery from wounds of combat. There is hardly anything that can match the spirit of our men and women in uniform, they are inspired and most of them would return to combat to fight side by side with their comrades in arms.
We all need to find that spark in life called inspiration to motivate and propel us to the place we belong, excellence is the word that comes to mind. Inspiration is truly the key to motivation.
